71. The Reality of Being Nutty as a Fruitcake

For all you guys who know me, or follow this blog know that I have depression, diagnosed back in 2010. With any chronic illness every so often, about 3-4 times a year I experience bouts of it which normally I can cope with and gradually bring myself out of it. Sometimes it's brought on due to circumstances and sometimes it's just my mind deciding to take a trip to the Capital Wasteland; full of dark, crazy shit. This time however, it has come on strong. Strong enough that I am not coping well and I feel so shit that I burst into tears. In the midst of the mini saga Journey to the Centre of the Beard, I took out my sketch pad and drew this.

The proverbial "they" sometimes say draw/write what you know. Doing this blog, Flying Biscuits, is cathartic for me and I draw pictures depicting how I feel at the time. This has and will continue to be included in my blog because it is my reality and is something I deal with everyday of my life. Aside from the geeky delights I like to dabble in.

I am not asking for sympathy, I am not trawling for compliments. I am just showing how I feel. Although I would, however, ask of you to learn about mental illness. Don't dismiss it, don't undermine its significance, don't take it with a pinch of salt. For many people it is a very real and sometimes very dangerous disease. You may have it, people you know and love may have it, your favourite celebrity, writer, comedian, musician, artist may all have it.

Empathy is key, humans. Key towards becoming a better person.

16. But Can He Actually Sing!

I have decided not to post up the full version as it was drawn a couple of years ago during a difficult time  and it features someone who I am no longer friends with and it doesn't feel right to put them up. However, this panel stood out, and even Dave said he liked the expression on his face ^_^ *proud*. Story was as follows: three people I know, all amazing, skilled musicians in their own way. Me, the amateur, tries to give it a go and fails. The only consolation is Dave liking (don't know why) my "warble" and the other two telling me I have fabulous hair (which I do ;) )

Basically, 90% of people I know and friends with are musicians, professionals who have been playing for years. I cannot fathom "showing off" potential skills I may (or may not have) have acquired in regards to music. Singing is one of them, I physically cannot tell you whether or not my voice is good. The only thing I say is that I don't have a rock voice, take that how you please.

In reality, people don't know how I actually sound. It's a Catch-22 -_-

11. Don't Like What I'm Hearing

My default expression in life, or if I've heard something that I don't like or cannot compute (see blue screen of death). It's another oldie from 2012.

At the moment, I'm trying to make small changes to names in my previous drawings to avoid problems. So I'm going through all of my special scans before getting back to the bigger drawings.

6. *Blue Screen Of Death*

This is what happens when I am in an uncomfortable situation, or something is said that I cannot fathom, or there is simply too much of the "social" for me to cope with. The infamous blue screen of death occurs

"We're sorry, we are unable to process your information. Please wait 30 seconds and try again"

This is actually taken from Humon's Scandinavia and the World comic, because I thought it was such a fantastic gag :) Here's the web page for that particular strip.
