40. Arrival, New Arrival

Remember I posted yesterday that Ryan was going through an extraordinary change? Will this is it: things were difficult for him for a while and it all came to a head. I was there as much as possible, considering the distance between us. Questioning your sexuality is one thing, questioning your gender is quite another and that is precisely what happened. Finally, he reached that moment where he finally came out as transgender. I could not be more happy for her, when she could finally be happy with who she is. She was not happy as a male, she wanted to be a woman. Ryan is now Joni, and she is happier than she ever has been before :)

Godspeed, you amazing individual :)

Definitely one of the most difficult things I have drawn, it still brings a tear to my eye.

Note to Joni:

This has been undoubtedly the most difficult Biscuit I have ever drawn. I was afraid of overstepping a boundary, projecting too much of my own experience coming out, or that it would just make you angry. Being the neurotic fuck that I am I was petrified of what you would think.

During the train back home, 3 songs came up on shuffle. "Oats We Sow" and "Boats & Birds" by Gregory & the Hawk, and "Kawaii" by Devin Townsend (see the links below). They brought tears to my eyes as I thought about what you must have gone through in your life to finally reach that point you could finally be your true self. It had been a long time since I have seen you that comfortable. I broke my own rule when I first "met" you! Never add a Facebook friend whom you've never met or don't know well. I am fucking glad I did.

A kind, loyal, complex person with intelligence to match and a big heart (mush!). And quite good looking, too! :)

Over the last 2 years you have become a close and personal friend. This doesn't really happen for me as I don't really allow it sometimes. Letting my guard down to allow strangers into my life brings an unfathomable amount of anxiety.

We have supported each other as much as we can considering the distance. We grew fond of each other and bonded over Börk :) I loved your confidence and ability to make others feel welcome and comfortable around you. Even complete strangers. You truly deserve the best for the amazing person that you are.
